Malcolm MacGregor is a landscape photographer whose work has taken him to remote places around the world such as Alaska and Oman. He was brought up in Scotland, Malaysia and the USA. He joined the Scots Guards in 1980 and served with the 6th Ghurkas in Hong Kong. On completion of his service with the Army in 1997, and having worked in London, he became a full time landscape photographer.
‘Wilderness Oman’ was his first book. It features the remote and untouched regions of the country and was published in 2002. Exhibitions in London and Muscat followed. His second book, ‘Rob Roy’s Country’, covered the landscapes of central Scotland and was published in 2003.
He has produced two photographic portfolios ‘Light over Oman’, and 'Landscapes of Scotland'. Both portfolios contain 20 hand printed photographs in a limited edition of 250.
His limited editon prints of landscapes from such places as Oman, Scotland and Alaska are held in private collections, in the Troubadour Gallery in London and Bait Muzna Gallery in Muscat.
In 2008 he completed a photographic assignment with the HALO Trust, a humanitarian mineclearance charity with operations in Africa, Asia and Europe.
His most recent book is 'The Outer Hebrides' and explores the light and landscapes of these remote islands off the north west coast of Scotland. His next piece of work from Scotland covers the islands of Mull, Iona and Staffa and will be published by Frances Lincoln in 2010.
He is currently exhibiting a portfolio of landscape photographs at the Fine Art Library in Edniburgh. In Apirl and May he will be exhibting this portfolio on a larger scale in Muscat, Oman.
